Pantalones Rojos

I wore my red pants today.

Hadn’t worn them in awhile.

I’ve had these funny pants for YEARS, courtesy of Target. Knowing me I probably paid less than $10 for them. I LOVE these pants, but I still haven’t figured out if they’re obnoxious or not. Who wears RED pants?

I guess I do.

I think what I love so much about them is the classic, simple style and not so much the fact that they’re RED! I would’ve bought them in every color, though, had there been more….

I’ve “tried” to donate them to Goodwill several times and I just can’t do it. I think another reason that I want to hang onto them is that they didn’t fit me for years and now they’re looser than before.

I really have not seen ANYONE else sporting such an article of clothing so I am aware that red pants may not be the norm…..red shirts, yes…pants, no.

People may look at me and laugh, but I’m going to hang onto my red pants.

I love you my little pantalones rojos. I can’t bear to part with you just yet. However, my fondness may be short lived, not because of your color, but because I hope that soon you will not fit me (and by “not fit me”, I mean be too big, not too small! Been there, done that.)

Until then, I will wear you with pride!

Hit Or Miss

Let me just say that 5 minutes after this picture was taken it was a “miss”.

There I was standing on some paper towels sopping it up.

My poor, poor sisal rug! That thing has been through a lot in the past 4 years.

But, how cute is he in his “football panties” and his $1 ghetto fabulous Brobee jammies from Wal-mart? Seriously $1….now I have a Yo Gabba Gabba song in my head!

Anyhoo….hoping for more “hits” from here on out.

Band-aids, Ballet & Battlestar Galactica

I took this picture to show off Miss Elliott’s new tap shoes.

She looked so darling in her new navy blue unitard with hot pink hearts, silver sparklies and cute little ruffled sleeves. Her shiny new tap shoes tied with a neat bow.

Then there is the band-aid on her knee!

The adhesive bandages that she wanted NOTHING to do with months ago are now flying off the medicine cabinet shelves. We had Curious George, Hello Kitty, Sesame Street and Disney Princess varieties and still, about 8 weeks ago, there were NO takers. Now we’re just down to the “adult”, plain, generic, boring skin-colored version and, still, those are seeing popularity. Any little itch, pain, scratch, dry skin, you name it….they need a band-aid.

The same thing goes for those temporary tattoos…one day she wanted not a thing to do with them and now she wants me to apply them weekly ~ and those things stay on FOREVER!

Maybe she’s watching too much Miami Ink. {wink}

Jay captured this picture last night at dance class.

It’s the quintessential dance pose, isn’t it?

(I thought this was taken during the ballet portion of her class, hence the “Ballet” in the post title. Somehow “Band-aids, Tap & Battlestar Galactica” doesn’t have the same ring to it, so I’ll leave it as is. Just wanted you all to know that I noticed this discrepancy) {my OCD coming out}

Today is Holden’s big outer space birthday party.

We are heading to another universe this afternoon for some space travel.

I’m glad the solar system is working in our favor right now and we have SUN! Hip hop hooray!

More cosmic photos to come……

Happy Weekend!

Fancy Rassy

We love the Fancy Nancy series in our house!

If you have a little girl(s) and haven’t discovered these darling books yet, check them out!

You can view the fanciness here.

Auntie Bucky sent the Fancy Nancy Christmas book last year which made a cute addition to our more traditional holiday reads. We also have Fancy Nancy and The Posh Puppy…which Elliott calls “The Polish Puppy”! But, I think my favorite so far is the original F.N. story.

Looks like we have a “polish puppy” of our own….

I hope you have a fanciful, fashionable, feathery and fUlL oF fUn FrIdAy!

FuNkY, Tattooed Ballerina

Oh my.

I think we have a Punky Brewster on our hands!

I’m trying to teach Elliott about matching or coordinating when she chooses her daily outfits, but sometimes you just gotta let it go!

She recently started dance class again and now that she’s older, she’s loving it that much more. She was so excited to wear her OLD purple, almost-too-small leotard and coordinating tattered, sheer skirt to class on Friday, BUT before we headed to the car she said she thought she needed some tights since she may get cold….knowing that we didn’t really have any white ones I tried to discourage it, but she said “I have the RED ones!” Fine. Go ahead Punky and get the red tights!

Then, as if the red tights weren’t enough, she paired this ensemble with her brown boots!

She used to NOT want anything to do with temporary tattoos or band-aids, but now….

If you look on her right arm, you’ll see her latest “inking” ~ a few roses.

So there you have it…our Funky Punky Tatted Up Ballerina Girl!

This morning I have a “git ‘er done!” attitude….look out.

Lots to do today and I’m in the mood to do it!

Nothin’ like getting the week off to a productive start.

Here’s to having a fUnKy, spunky, constructive MoNdAy!

Blue Suede Shoes

75% of my Target purchases come with that little reddish-orange clearance tag…the only things I WILL pay full price for are toiletries, toilet paper, cleaning products, food items, etc. ~ you know…the necessities.

I WON’T spend full price on clothing, handbags, home decor, shoes, etc. Why pay full price when you can get it for 50-75% off a month or so down the road?

These are my latest find:

$4.98 for suede upper and a nice comfy rubber sole?

I’ll take ’em!

Feeling a little like Elvis today…

White Girls Can’t Dance

So…..
last night I tried a FREE Zumba class at our clubhouse.
I loved it. I want to continue. I looked like a fool. I didn’t care.

I’ve always thought that I had rhythm and could bust a move, but I need to get off my “Coordination High Horse” because somewhere along the line I have lost any and all ability to carry out the simplest of moves. I know that all these hip gyrations and booty shakin’ will come easier as I keep going, but in the mean time I need to get over myself and just do it!

The funny thing is is that I didn’t give a damn about what I looked like. At least I was out there moving and not at home shoving bon bons in my face while watching The Real Housewives Of Orange County. I was movin’ although I was NOT groovin’, and I loved it. In my 20s I would have been more insecure, but now that I’m nearing my “not so 20s”, I don’t care anymore what I look like trying to borderline hip hop dance to BEP’s Boom Boom Pow!

Oh, and I also did all this tomfoolery in my socks…apparently my NB Trail shoes are a little too “tready” for Zumba. I need to get some smooth bottomed shoes. All of a sudden I perked up…..I get to buy new shoes? They may be ugly, black, dorky looking shoes (not a fan of black tennies!), but if they will help me with my moves, I’m all for it!

Let this be my theme song for the day:

Just For The Record…

…my fake Ugg boots (“Fuggs”) that I purchased from Ross for $16.99 kept my feet perfectly dry & warm during our trip to the snow last weekend! I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had fallen apart after trudging through at least a foot of snow, BUT….

I now want a real pair. I bought the cheapo pair first because I wasn’t sure if I was Ugg-wearin’ material (with a blog called flipflopfollies and all) but I LOVE them and can’t wait to graduate to my first “real” pair!

Can’t decide between the classic camel color or a nice chocolate brown pair………hmmmmm?

Maybe one of each.

Cabin Fever

We’re on day 4 of Mother Nature crying her eyes out! My Goodness…it’s WET out there, but we need it! The picture above was taken on the ONE day that I stepped out of the house this week ~ Monday.

I am on day 3 of being cooped up in the house trying to get Miss Elliott well ~ coughing, low grade fever, blah, blah!

I’m all for a day at home once a week, but this is getting old. I am actually looking forward to running to Albertson’s in a bit to grab some groceries. We’re almost out of everything! If I don’t make it to the store, it could be scrambled eggs with a side of string cheese for dinner. Dr. Atkins would be proud.

But I’m planning on making lettuce wraps for dinner tonight and I’m PLANNING on running to Target tomorrow. But if I hear of a tornado warning here in the SCV, I just may be velcro’d to the house again tomorrow!

I can get more laundry done.

I can fold more laundry.

I can clean the grout.

I can get rid of more stuff.

I can not spend any money.

I can watch more episodes of Max & Ruby, Dora & Diego.

But I’d rather not. Done enough of that already this week.

Happy Thursday! Hope everyone is staying warm & dry in this wintery weather!
