Red Vines

Holden had a t-ball game last night. His field was next to the A’s, who Elliott’s classmate’s sister plays for. It’s so cute to see Elliott & Cameron call out each other’s names on game days, run to each other and pal around together while their siblings play ball.

As I sat with one eye on the game and one eye on the threesome above, I couldn’t help but smile as I watched them skip and gallop around in the late afternoon/early evening sunlight.

Ironically, on the first day of kindergarten I filled out the last page in Elliott’s baby book ~ My First School Day. Under the entry, “I was so proud because I _______________ for the first time”, she wanted to fill in the blank with “met new friends”. She named a few of her new classmates and Cameron was one of them. Almost 10 months later, they’re sharing Red Vines on the t-ball field…..awwwww!

I’m thrilled that she has fostered friendships all on her own this school year. She really does love each and every one of her classmates. She’ll come home too and mention that she met a new friend in Mrs. So-and-So’s class. I love that she’s befriended other students since, without a doubt, each school year will bring some new faces to her classroom….chances are she will already know some {or all} of them.

Making my best effort to keep in touch with many of the sweet moms for some fun summer play dates. I couldn’t be happier with the nice group of kiddos and parents we shared this school year with.

Maybe the saying {all I ever needed to know I learned in kindergarten} really is true after all.

On Friendship

I was going to mention this in Holden’s birthday post, but I forgot.

I’m glad because I think this topic deserves it’s own post {better yet, it’s own category!}.

Every time we host a party or gathering that my family attends, when all is said and done and the guests are gone, both my folks and my in-laws have always said, “You have the NICEST group of friends!”

This comment has travelled from San Diego, to the Bay Area, back to So Cal. I know I have nice friends {wouldn’t have it any other way!}, but it’s nice to hear wherever we may settle through the years, that others notice our choice of friendships along the way.

Friendships are so important to me. Some come and go. Some are forever.

I love friendships that stand the test of time and can be renewed after years of dormancy as if no time has passed. Picking right up where you left off. No uncomfortable feelings. Just hugs and tons of verbal exchanges covering the happenings of the year{s} that may have gone by.

But then there are also the {everyday} friendships of the people you see more often. The ones that share laughs, lend an ear or even help wipe tears. The ones that you can invite over and not worry about the dog hair in the corners or the dishes in the sink.

Of course, I hope I am the friend to others that they are to me.

I’d {take the bus} with any of my friends any day!

Thank you, friends, near and far, for being in my life…each one of you, in a different way, makes a difference EVERY DAY.

And I must add that my friends reciprocate the same feelings towards my folks and in-laws.

I love you, Mom & Pops and Mom & Dad!

I couldn’t ask for a better family or friendships.

Smiling as I go into the weekend…..

Me, Myself & I

This morning was fabulous.

I had 3 hours to myself.

No calls from the school. No laundry. No vacuuming.

Just me, myself and I.

I ran some errands…picked up a few treasures and some goodies for Holden’s birthday.

I am attempting a {much} smaller version of this…

And, yes, I did go back and pick up another pair of $4.48 gloves at Target:

Have you tried the new fruit & maple oatmeal at Mickey D’s?

It’s great for a quick breakie on the road…290 calories with 5 grams of fiber!

It really is {undeniably delicious}.

Remember this {Friends} episode:

There is a woman that I see every Tuesday/Thursday morning on the way to Holden’s school. She has a very {Phoebe-esque} running style and I always get a kick out of it ~ brings a smile to my face at 8:45am.

Hope your Tuesday involved a few laughs and some {YOU} time!
