We were given muchos, muchos gorgeous, homegrown avocados from our sweet realtor. Many are ripe and ready for guac. I wish y’all lived close…we could sit and sip a little margarita, dip some chips in garlicky green goodness and chat!

Hope this Friday the 13th has brought you {good} luck.
P.S. If you are in the market for some cheap, cute margarita glasses, I saw the exact same cactus glasses pictured above at Dollar Tree. That is the one category of barware that we don’t own. Kicking myself that I didn’t pick up half a dozen last time I was there. I think the little cacti are so festive & fun…perfect for summer.
15. Go to a baseball game {this one was left over from last summer}
Along with a trip to the Carolinas and summer camps, this list is pretty lofty, but we’re going to do our best to fit these little bits of fun into our June, July & August!
What are you going to be checking off your list this summer?
Life got a little hectic all of a sudden and I don’t quite know where to begin.
The weekend was great ~ t-ball opening day and Mother’s Day.
We were up bright and early for the annual parade and opening ceremonies followed by the first game.
Please excuse the barrage of t-ball cuteness to follow:
{lining up with buddy, nicholas}
{parading around the field}
{sitting with his teammates}
{national anthem}
{getting into position}
{up to bat}
{running home}
{praise from coach}
{thanks for the helmet, lolo!}
{goooo orioles!}
It really was too cute for words. A few times I thought I was watching football ~ the kids would all run for the ground ball and then dog pile each other! Saturday mornings are going to be so fun for awhile.

After our big t-ball extravaganza we hit up Panda Express {Holden’s pick} for some lunch and then cruised the ‘hood and rummaged through some garage sales. To this point, I have preferred hosting the garage sale, but I have to say it was fun seeing what everyone was trying to get rid of….and there is always an offer to me made!
Then the girls {Gramma, Elliott & me} went for pedicures and an afternoon Starbucks.

Mother’s Day was nice with morning coffee and monkey bread and a Mexican food lunch complete with margaritas…
I never thought the words “Gramma, finish your margarita!” would ever come out of my mouth…
We dropped Jay and the kiddos off and then {tipsy} Gramma and I toured an open house and did a little shopping followed by another afternoon Starbucks pick-me-up. Jay made some homemade pesto, grilled some pizzas and made a salad for our special dinner.
Another wonderful Mother’s Day down in the books…

Monday night was filled with an unexpected twist. My friend, Hollie, got some tickets to an audition taping of Simon Cowell’s new show “The X Factor” at USC’s Galen Center. My {celebrity sighting resumé} is picking up a bit. I stared at the back of Simon’s and Paula’s heads for about 3 hours. Ha! We were WAY up high in the nosebleed section as we got caught in traffic and were a little tardy for the party.
But it was fun and there was some decent talent…show airs this fall.
Here is my dorky pose before I hit the road for the night:

Things have been a little topsy turvy lately, but it has become clear that it’s time to refocus and buckle down for awhile.
What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter – a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue. ~ Henri Matisse
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.

The last several days I have been consumed with house hunting.
Glued to MLS listings. Visiting many. Loving one. Finding out it’s already in escrow. Hating some. Seeing the potential in others. Not being able to afford this. Able to easily walk away from that.
It’s draining.
I am not good at house hunting. If I see a place I like I immediately {move in}. OK, I’ll put this here. The hutch will go there. The Christmas tree will look fantastic here. Hmmmm, may need to paint that wall a different color. Etc.
Right now I live in about 3 houses.
We’re renting. We love our neighborhood. Our house. The schools. Our friends & neighbors.
But we also want a place that’s OURS.
As much as we love where we are, we still feel a little unsettled.
So, we’ll keep hunting. Searching for the {perfect} place to call HOME.
Jay MUST have a full-fledged driveway.
I {need} granite & plantation shutters.
Time will tell.
It always does….we just have to be patient.

In the meantime I have not given Jillian my full attention.
I have invitations to put together and disperse.
Last night’s dishes are in the sink.
I need to figure out two teacher appreciation goodies.
My little one is back to being wrapped up in the soft, red blanket.
With a Rascal on the side.
She went to school yesterday, but came down with another fever last night. Plus, she is still complaining of her neck hurting for the 5th day in a row now.
We need to get to the bottom of it….hate not seeing her usual spunky self.
Looks like more lollipops and stickers are in her future.
And possibly some of that {bubblegum} pink medicine?
Man it’s been windy up in these parts last night and today…
branches litter the ground and the power went out in the middle of the night. I awoke at 5:37am to find the Bose blinking 12:01 and the printer restarting so I immediately knew we’d lost power sometime during the night.
I woke little missy up at 7:00am and she was tearful and complaining of her neck hurting again. Ugh! We took a trip to Dr. Y yesterday and all was fine ~ no temp, tonsils were a bit red and inflamed and her right lymph node was a little enlarged, but no antibiotic was prescribed or anything. She even wanted to go to school on the way home….I made the mistake of letting her ride her new pink Razor in the backyard for a bit yesterday afternoon when she SHOULD have been resting….”I’m all better now, Mama!” How many times have we heard that? Shame on me.
We had this for Easter Brunch and it was yummy. I substituted fresh basil and used mozzarella instead of the colby-jack. The frozen pie crusts at Trader Joe’s are great ~ super duper light & flaky. Highly, highly recommend.
This little ladybug was under the weather all weekend with a low grade fever and sore throat.
I think the worst part for her is that she missed out on a Chuck E. Cheese birthday for two little friends.
Therefore, our Easter included {Tangled} and {Yogi Bear} courtesy of Red Box. Gramma sat with her while the rest of us went to mass.
{the loot}
{new jams & a lolli}
{the Easter Wiener ~ how can you say “no” to this face?}
{with her Lolo}
{waiting for the pews to fill up}
{a quick backyard egg hunt before returning to the infirmary}

Aside from a couple underarm thermometer readings, a dose of children’s Advil and some non-Chuck E. havin’ tears, the weekend was nice with my in-laws here from the Carolinas and a quick visit from Gramma K.
They were able to see her arabesque, passe and shuffle step at dance on Friday so all was not lost….
At Easter, we are blessed with renewed HOPE and FAITH.
Hoping yours was filled with the same….sans any long-haired princesses or Jellystone livin’ bears.
E.B. has a sweet tooth like no other, loves to bake and can go through a box of Chewy Lemonheads in no time flat.
But, when it comes to filling baskets E.B. tries to make some better choices than just Peeps, Cadbury Creme Eggs, jelly beans, speckled robin’s egg malt balls, chocolate bunnies and bubble gum.
Generally, our Easter baskets are filled with useful goodies rather than a boatload of candy and little unnecessary toys.
Here are some suggestions for Easter basket stuffers with less sugar and less likely to end up on the floor after a day…..
Sunglasses for the upcoming summer months
Flip flops
Tooth brushes
Band-aids {our household goes through these like they’re goin’ out of style!}
Summer jammies
{both from oldnavy.com}
Reusable water bottles
Sugarless gum
{Washable} crayons or markers
Coloring books
Bubble bath {we don’t use this regularly so it’s a treat}
Of course, it’s OK to throw in a few Dum Dum lollipops or some chocolate eggs. We don’t want the Easter Bunny to be a total buzz kill.
After all, that’s why he put a new toothbrush in the basket!
