Great info in this post Amy! It does take work to stretch that dollar!

Our washer and dryer quit last fall and the new set combined with my daughter away at college is saving me a bundle in electrictiy and water! Every little bit helps! 🙂

History does repeats itself. I remember Gam’s and Grandad’s stories of Chicago in 1933 (Grandad working in a vet’s office at night and Gam hosting at Marshall Fields in the Redwood Room) so they could continue their studeis in The Art Institute. You lived through some lean times, too, with “dented ice cream cartons” (that fell off the truck and were in the mark-down freezer) and our marathon shopping trips (you in the way-back of our VW…no car seat) to Big Bear, Alpha Beta and de Falcos for all the weekly specials. Ahhhh….such super memories…character building. Passing down these wonderful stories through the modern blog!
