The Key To My Heart

Tomorrow is a very special day.

Our 8 year wedding anniversary….

October 23, 2004

The perfect San Diego Fall afternoon for nuptials in Balboa Park followed by an Old Town celebration late into the evening ~ more to come on that tomorrow, but today I wanted to share with you something fitting that I purchased this morning as a little anniversary gift to us. {but only I will wear it! ha!}

I’ve been admiring Leslie’s upcycled, vintage treasures since she opened her shop {Salvage 517} and when she Insta’d that she had some new beauties listed this morning, I took a peek and knew I had to have this little key around my neck to remind me of how lucky I am to have found Jay and start our life together officially almost eight years ago.

I adore it. And I adore Leslie. I had the pleasure of meeting her briefly a year ago at Blog Sugar and from the minute I met her I knew she had a heart of gold ~ a beautiful, vintage gold heart hugged by several gorgeous beads and strung on a bright and vibrant ribbon, of course.

You can find her sweet, inspiring blog here.

Annnnnd to top it off, she owns an adorable senior citizen dachshund that looks just like Rascal.

So, go and check out her Etsy shop and pop in and say “Hello!” on her blog.

I also couldn’t resist this fabric wrapped frame housing a vintage Thanksgiving greeting for our November mantle…

Love. Love. Love.

And I love you, too, Jay! Can’t wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!

Thank you for holding the key to my heart…

XO

Dream

This week’s inspiration over at Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop is {the beach}.

Even though I absolutely loved our Fall wedding, I often thought tying the knot in one of the summer months on or near the beach would be ever so dreamy.

This floral arrangement is unreal…

When Does {Vintage} Become Outdated?

We have several vintage European prints in our home.

{both via}

We purchased them at Z Gallerie in ’03 when we bought our first house in San Diego.

I still LOVE them to this day.

We’ve been through 2 big moves. Each time the moving company called in a third party to {crate up} our huge Cinzano print. I had to chuckle both times. They built a custom crate for this thing and each time it required two dudes to come and crate it and uncrate it on the other end! What? Hate to see what would happen with a fine art piece.

Anywhoo….lately I’ve been thinking how to change up the decor in our home. Wondering if these pieces are still “in”. Of course, style is subjective.

I adore them so they will stay for now…..

I also love these:

Love that there’s no black…so bright and cheery.

I am well aware that travel agencies are way passé, but how fun would it be to have a chic travel agency and have the walls lined with these?

With this for my clients to sit on…

And these lucite nesting tables for them to place their refreshments on:

OK, I’m a dork….

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Oh, how I LOVE these vintage valentine cards!

And oh how I LOVE my Valentines….

It was peanut butter banana smoothies in their cute new mugs this morning…

Then we loaded up all the valentines and headed to school.

Elliott signed 25 {cheesy} Jonas Brothers cards all by herself and helped me seal them with a little pink heart sticker.

She also has a little candy treat for her classmates…

I had visions of hand cut hearts, glitter and handwritten notes to adorn these little trinkets, but the weekend got away from us and I found myself scrambling for my Avery labels and put my new color cartridge to work!

Now that I look back, I should’ve had the label read, “Please be a {Smartie} and be my Valentine!”

Shucks! Oh well.

Just wanted to add that yesterday, while I took Holden to a little birthday party, Jay and Elliott went and redeemed a certificate she got from school at Cold Stone. I found out when I got home that she chose cotton candy ice cream with m&m’s….how NASTY is that? Sorry, I know it’s not polite to comment that something that someone is eating is gross, BUT……they shouldn’t even MAKE cotton candy ice cream! Jay said it was blue! Yuck!

But I’m glad Jay & Elliott got to have some more one on one time. They also went to the park and practiced her sight words!

This afternoon I’m going to be busy in the kitchen preparing a special dinner for my other Valentine…

Chicken Marsala

Roasted asparagus with parmesan

Cheesecake {my first attempt, but I found a recipe that BEGGED to be baked!}

Almond champagne toast

{recipes to come}

Wish me luck as I try out my new spring form pan!

Coming Soon…

Spring!

In just 12 days…

How yummy is this vintage note card? How I love, love, love these nostalgic little numbers!

It’s called “Egg Shell Races”~ so sweet.
