Is Your Husband As Dirty As Mine?

This morning we were up bright and early for the Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run at Lake Castaic.

{the calm before the [mud] storm}

It was a gorgeous day for the 5K trail run which included short walls to scale, a waist deep wade through the lake, a rope wall and then the final mud crawl before the finish line.

{the perfect place for [a kodak moment]}

{thank goodness for bandanas}

{“go daddy go” ~ bib #1620}

{in the white shirt…off to get into his corral}

{in the far lane behind the person on their knees in the orange shirt}

{i don’t know why they bother passing out bibs}

{off to the showers}

{cool dog tag medal}

{quick picnic before heading home}

By the way, the edamame hummus at TJ’s is AWESOME!

Jay did great and wants to try the 10K next year.

I’m going to definitely do the 5K and see how that goes….better work on my upper body strength!

The nice thing is that the lake is literally 15 minutes from our house.

Anyone wanna get a little team together, dress up and do it with me next year?

Put aside an old pair of tennies and let’s get dirty!

It seriously looked like so much fun.

Enjoy the rest of the beautiful weekend!

  1. I’ve seen these Mud Runs before and I can’t figure out what the lure is. I’m not criticizing the events or people who do them at all. But if someone asked me if I wanted to do a Mud Run, I’m run away. Is it really cool?

  2. I think the best way to explain it is that when you KNOW you’re going to get muddy and you are prepared with clean clothes and stuff for afterwards, it makes it less worrisome. I know there are times when I do all I can NOT to get dirty, but I think it changes when you know that it’s for a good cause and you’re out there on a beautiful day…at first glance it may not seem like the ideal 5K, but once you see how much fun everyone is having, it becomes contagious ~ at least for me! 😉 A portion of the proceeds go to Operation Gratitude which sends care packages to service men and women.
