Crispy, Crunchy, Salty, Sweet {And Shoes!}

Last night I threw together a test batch of another Pinterest find.

I made a joke on a recent Facebook status that Pinterest needs to require that for every recipe pinned a {fitness} pin must follow! I mean really….give me something to DO to work off all these goodies!

I love that Jess is hosting PinterTest Kitchen…because apparently every pin that pops up is not worthy! So far I have been lucky and everything has been scrumptious and this Sweet Salty Snack Mix is no exception:

{my apologies for the 6:21am cell phone pic}

The moment I spotted this I knew I was going to make gobs of it for Christmas and hand it out to everyone, but then I thought it’d be cute with Halloween m&m’s.

Here is the line-up:

Pretzel twists or sticks would be fine, too

Small Fritos {original}

UNsalted roasted peanuts or nut of choice

m&m’s {you could certainly kill two birds with one stone and get peanut or almond m&m’s. I had a bag on-hand and weeded out all the orange, brown and green ones for this. I also threw on a few candy corn so they wouldn’t feel left out!}

White chocolate chips or Wilton candy melts

Dark or milk chocolate chips or Wilton candy melts

Just throw down a layer of pretzels and Fritos then {glue} those together with white chocolate {after you’ve melted of course ~ 30 second intervals in the micro at 50% power [VERY IMPORTANT], stir and repeat until smooth}. For me, white chocolate does not melt as smoothly as milk or dark…I found that I had globs of the white chocolate and had to smooth it out with a butter knife a little. Then toss on some peanuts and the m&m’s and {glue} those down with some milk chocolate drizzle! Put in the fridge to set up and then break into chunks and eat share.

Crispy, crunchy, salty and sweet!

I picked up some purple plastic tumblers with spiders on them at Dollar Tree {4 for a buck}, washed them {!!!} and then filled with the snack mix.

Done and done! {I’ll try and post a pic later, but wanted to share this with you ASAP so you could make some this weekend!}

Lately my Ross has had great shoes! Today I found these {Simple Weegee Booties} for a very belated gift for a very special little guy:

{are they not adorableX100?}

And I picked up these Blowfish ballet flats for Elliott for just $12.99…

{wish they came in my size}

Well, that’s it…a couple new recipes in the works for this weekend along with some housework and pumpkin patch action on the agenda.

What about you? What are you up to?

Make A Statement

I love red.

It’s not my favorite color, but I love the fact that it’s bold enough to stand alone.

How much do I adore this red dresser? Let me count the ways…

{via}

A pop of red at this lovely little desk…

{via}

Red boots and a red handbag make a statement when paired with a simple top and old, comfy jeans ~ {and don’t forget a red leash for the [Fido] in your life!}…

{via}

…and of course Christmas! You MUST have red at the holidays…

{via}

Um, red door?

Yes, please.

{via}

I could go on and on…

Go ahead, add a punch of {red} here and there in your life.

Make a statement!

Small Fry Gets Some Skinnys

While browsing through the racks at TJMaxx last week, I came across some Hurley skinny jeans in size 3T for $7 a pair.

I didn’t have Holden with me, but figured they’d fit since he’s itty bitty…

See, he loves them!

I don’t think skinnys are OK for just anyone…in fact you will probably NEVER {ever} see me in a pair. Not even in my dreams am I wearing skinny jeans. Not because I don’t like them, I am just….well, not skinny. And if I ever DO get skinny enough to wear them, they will be long out of style!

But I LOVE my kids in them.

I think they look adorable on him. I had to convince him that they were cool, though.

“They’re skater pants!”

“Snowboarders wear these pants!”

I think it worked.

The Mummy & The Cheerleader

Today I was able to already check off {Halloween costumes} on my October to-do list.

Thank goodness.

I always stress over this.

Surprise!

Elliott wanted to be a cheerleader.

AGAIN.

I suggested she be a {scary} cheerleader and she was all for it. Rah. Rah. I found a cheerleader costume in orange and black sequins with a skull and crossbones on the front at TJ Maxx ~ just $19.99 and it came with skeleton pom poms, black and orange striped knee highs and some little fingerless glove thingys. Score.

She already has silver sequined high tops so we’re all set.

So this year we have a little mummy and a spooky, sparkly spirit girl.

Awesome. Now I can breathe and enjoy the whole month of October.

Halloween decor coming out this week.

How is it possible that it’s already that time?

I don’t know, but I’m not complaining.

Enjoy the last hour and fifteen of September!

Night night.

Transformer Starts With {T}

Today was Holden’s preschool picture day.

He had other ideas…

Big Orange Bow

Today was picture day.

We spent {awhile} last night going over outfit options.

She wanted a formal-ish holiday dress.

I wanted bright and fun.

She still wanted too-nice-for-school dress.

I wanted cute Roxy dress.

She wanted to wear one of her two shrugs and chose the turquoise one and we went from there….

Big orange bow ~ Cheapy accessory store in Charlotte mall {$1}

Hannah Montana tank ~ Wal-mart from Gramma

Turquoise shrug ~ Target

Levi’s bermuda shorts ~ Belk from Lola

Camo flats ~ Payless

Cute pose ~ 100% Elliott!

*****

I will be sad when I cannot get her to wear the big bows in her hair anymore.

Love.

Guarantee it will be in her backpack at pick-up, though.

She had the option of a big yellow bow or the big orange bow and she chose orange because it’s my favorite color……made the outfit debacle all better.

How can it already be picture day for my first grader?

Fall’s {Almost} In The Bag

Pumpkin Spice lattes are available at Starbucks.

Football has started.

We’re getting closer and closer to my favorite season…17 more days to be exact.

I whipped up a little {fall} handbag for myself using a super duper clearance Target tote and a few rolled rosettes…

I just happened to have some leftover fabric that coordinated with the mustard colored bag and, again, used this tutorial for the rosettes.

I then played around with them until I found an arrangement that I liked before hot gluing them on.

Easy.

For the amount of time it took me to put this together, I was so pleased with how it turned out.

I think some little make-up bags would be darling, as well.

This would be a sweet little semi-handmade gift for the holidays ~ perfect for teachers and all the ladies on your list.

I’m on the hunt for some more inexpensive totes & cosmetic bags and fun fabric for my holiday workshop!

Happy Tuesday…have a great {short} week!
