OK……

how cute are these homemade Pop Tarts?

Found them over here

I must make these.

When I complete 5 miles non-stop {running}, I am going to make these for a weekend breaky.

The blueberry with key lime icing look ridiculous, but I think I’ll try some cinnamon & brown sugar with maple icing.

The brown sugar cinnamon variety have always been at the top of my list.

Although I haven’t eaten a Pop Tart in a million years and my kids don’t even know what they are.

YET!

But somehow the homemade ones make me feel less gulity.

No?

Am I the only human being that treats herself to “junk” food once I hit a fitness goal?

Most would probably have a nice pile of alfalfa sprouts or a shot of wheat grass…

Oh no, not me…I’m just going to reward myself with more calories!

However, I will always be a foodie and love to bake.

I guess that’s why I’m trying to make running a recurring part of my life.

So I CAN eat all these things, but still {try} and be fit!

Stay tuned….if I can run a little over 3 miles, I can CERTAINLY do 5.

Homemade Pop Tarts coming soon.

Flip Flop’s Fall Faves

Happy September 1st!

FALL is my most favorite {I know “most favorite” is redundant, but that’s how much I LOVE it!} season.

Hands down.

I made sure our wedding was in October.

It just had to be.

Maybe it’s because it leads to my most fave holiday time, Thanksgiving through Christmas.

Maybe it’s because I celebrate an autumn birthday.

Maybe it’s the comfort food.

Maybe it’s the beginning of days of “bundling up”.

Flannel pajamas. Cozy coats.

Not sure exactly WHY I fall for Fall, but I do.

And here are just some of the reasons why…

{Celebrating another year of marriage}

{Candles for when it starts getting dark before 5pm!}

{Rosy lips glistening with berry goodness}

{Spicy morning treat laced with caffeine}

{Hearty soups, stews & one pot meals}

{Pigskin}

{Annual trip to the pun’kin patch}

{Comfy, cozy Uggs ~ I’m getting a REAL pair this year!}

{Seeing the red, orange & yellow leaves covering the trees and watching them float down in the Fall breeze}

{Trick or Treat!}

…and then there is always this:

{Meeting a new teacher and new friends. Wearing new school clothes. A new pair of shoes. New backpack and lunch box. School supplies.}

Already trying to enjoy a bit the season that is upon us.

Officially 22 more {long} days, though!

Super Bee

Speaking of Busy Bees in my last post, we had a visitor yesterday after school that spent the night with us.

Super Bee.

Super Bee is Elliott’s classroom mascot.

He gets to take turns visiting the students and goes home to the kids with good {bee}havior for the day!

We wanted to make sure that Super Bee had a buzzing good time at our casa so we spent the afternoon outside riding trikes and scooters.

Here is SB sitting on the bumper of the car watching…

Elliott put SB in her Hello Kitty purse and we took a stroll around the block.

She was sure to leave it a little unzipped so SB wouldn’t get too warm!

We met some nice new neighbors and introduced them to SB.

After dinner, we went to Golden Spoon for dessert. {Red Mango was closed!}

Here is SB eyeing the Peanut Butter/Vanilla combo with mini dark chocolate chips:

Super Bee comes with a little journal where the kids document his {I don’t know why I assume SB is male} travels…

When we got home from Golden Spoon, Elliott drew a picture of her blue scooter, her yogurt, Rascal and Super Bee himself.

{She drew Rascal because he was VERY curious about SB and sniffed and sniffed him. We had to keep an extra close eye on SB because Rassy has a history of chewing small stuffed animals!!}

I did a little journal write up of our afternoon and evening as Elliott dictated.

We hope you had fun, Super Bee!

Too bad we didn’t get you on a Friday night so we could’ve taken you out on the town and shown you a real good time over the weekend!

Maybe next time…..

Will Jog For Java

Well, yesterday morning I did it.

I left the “comfort” of our neighborhood and ran {aka slow jog} to Starbucks while Jay pulled the kiddos in our new bike trailer.

As the crow flies, Starbucks is 2.5 miles, but we took the paseo route which I estimate added about half a mile or so.

I jogged the whole way except for a few minutes when we “got lost” on the paseo and had to back track.

Here I am envisioning a venti iced americano….

It was a start.

I have a long way to go to get to 13.1 miles.

I felt good and could’ve kept going…

The kids & Jay were so cute, cheering me on from time to time.

“Hi Mommy!” ~ so sweet.

Jay Sean, Miley, Katy Perry and Maxwell were just a few that also helped me out along the way!

Ran about 3/4 of a mile on the way home and power walked the rest.

I’ll go for 4+ miles this week….

December 5th will be here before you know it!
